This page highlights some commonly seen problems with feeding pets or with pet food products. For more detailed information or advice please visit the Kibblesense forum.

Gastrointestinal Issues - GI problems are the most commonly seen effect of an improper diet selection or adjustment. Symptoms include diarrhea, vomiting, gas and general ill feeling. Many things from too rich a diet, lack of digestibility to ingredient intolerance can cause these symptoms.  While an initial GI Upset can occur when starting a new diet or product it should resolve quickly and not progress nor last for more than a few days.

Poor coat and body condition - A food that is a poor match for an animal or is lacking in quality will result in copious shedding, itching and overall poor body condition. There is no special adjustment period and no, your pet is not “cleansing” itself of impurities; the diet is simply not working

Significant weight loss - If your pet has lost considerable weight on a food despite eating large amounts then the product is not suitable for the energy needs of your pet. Part of a product’s success is maintaining body condition and energy needs within normal feeding amounts. In cases like this an owner should seek out a product with higher energy content.

Hard to locate products or inconsistency in final product - A product needs to be accessible to be successful. A pet owner should not have to drive hundreds of miles to locate a product nor pray it is in stock. The end product should be consistent in type and finished product and not change many times over a short period of time.
